Pornhub Encourages Women to Explore Careers in STEM Fields

Pornhub, renowned for its adult entertainment content, is offering a $25,000 scholarship to support a woman pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. Corey Price, the vice president of Pornhub, explained in an email to CNBC the company’s commitment to addressing the gender disparity in these fields.

Women, while nearly half of the overall workforce, are significantly underrepresented in various STEM careers, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data. For instance, women comprise only 39 percent of chemists and material scientists, 28 percent of environmental scientists and geoscientists, and notably less in engineering fields.

The scholarship is part of the Pornhub Cares initiative, now in its second year. It’s important to note that this scholarship is open to those outside the adult entertainment industry. Price emphasizes that this initiative is a way for Pornhub to contribute positively to its community and fan base, aligning with its philanthropic goals that have brought joy and life-changing opportunities to many.

Eligibility for the scholarship requires applicants to be women with a minimum 3.0 GPA, enrolled full-time in an accredited post-secondary institution in a STEM field, and be at least 18 years old. The application deadline is set for November 30, with the announcement of the recipient scheduled for December.

Beyond this scholarship, Pornhub has engaged in other charitable activities, including fundraising for cancer charities and collaborating with PETA on pet spaying initiatives. The company has also made efforts to make its content more accessible to the visually impaired by adding audio descriptions to its videos.
