Sailing as you know it is being changed by virtual sport — and Australia’s top-performing athletes are benefiting from it.

As legendary yachtsman and skipper of Australia II in the victorious 1983 America’s Cup, John Bertrand, revealed the 17-strong squad for the nation’s entries in the 2024 America’s Cup, he described the sport’s “new world”.

As one of the 12 national youth and women’s teams to contest the America’s Cup regattas in Barcelona next September and October, Australia has been utilising an AC40 foiling yacht simulator to prepare.
